• Identify the Trees/Fruit trees of local varieties : Every region has certain indigenous plants that comfortably grow in the temperature and weather conditions of that region. You can identify a native-variety, herbal and /or fruit plants suitable to various regions across India. It is highly recommended to choose plants mentioned in the list. This is not the whole list; however, you could choose one that is indigenous to your region. • Register the plant on the Kalpataruh app – so the app will have all the necessary information about the plant and will help in accurate documentation

You could procure the saplings from,

• the Forest department (as it gives free saplings in the month of June)
• the Horticulture department
• local nurseries
• Collaborate with other green NGOs who are interested in giving tree saplings
• Philanthropists or donors who want to sponsor tree saplings

Trees listed above require less amount of water for sustenance, generate huge amounts of oxygen and help in restoring and maintaining soil fertility thus contributing to the environment.

For example, trees such as the ‘neem tree’ have a remarkable ability to withstand air and water pollution as well as heat. It reduces the volume of greenhouse gases through photosynthesis and acts as a very efficient, natural air filter trapping dust particles and absorbing gaseous pollutants.

Different plants have different habitat and soil requirements so choosing the right place is very important. You could choose places like gardens, schools, temples or places of worship, hospitals, road-sides, near the center, agricultural or fallow land, periphery of farms, yogic kheti farms, mixed forestry or industrial areas depending upon its requirements.

Also, when different varieties of plants are planted on a common space, the growth is better, biodiversity is improved and sustenance of the plants becomes easier.

You can identify authorities in your locality who may be interested to collaborate. This could be done through your contacts or through those of the students connected to the centre or BK Patashala.

• To have a large-scale impact and bring about a global transformation we have to collaborate with all small, big, government and non-government institutions like schools, universities, forest department, community spaces, faith based organizations, hospitals, special homes, etc.
• In doing so, we can bring the organizations in contact with the Brahma Kumaris who and they too can be supportive to build a Golden Virtuous World.

• The organization supporting this project will be benefited as follows:

  • Being a part of the initiative of the government in celebrating Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
  • Fulfilling their CER and CSR.
  • Logo of the organization will be showcased in all the banners and the mobile app which will reach to at least 40 lakh individuals.
  • Contributing to the environment and building a value- based society.
  • Ensuring authentic, effective and optimum use of their resources.

• The Kalpataruh app is in its building process and will be launched in due course of time. Once launched, more details will follow for clarity on using it.

• Using the Kalpataruh app you can register a sapling to start with. Thereafter, we go through a self-empowerment journey for 75 days through various activities, short stories, meditation commentaries, classes, etc based on a divine virtue that can be inculcated by the individuals connected to the centre/patashala. You can use the app to get to know about the tips and techniques to take care of the plant and to know how spirituality is connected to the environment, etc

• It creates a platform where Brahma Kumaris message for environment related work would be shared
• Great opportunity to bring like-minded people who work in different fields of environment work
