Our planet is definitely a priceless gift from GOD.It is the principal source of all essential nutrients for all the living things on the planet. Earth provides everything we need, including the food we eat, the clothes we wear and the home we live in, Earth is known as ‘Mother Earth’, because like our mother, she is always nursing us and providing for all of our needs.

The most vital thing that earth provides for survival is oxygen. The oxygen we breathe comes from trees and the carbon dioxide we exhale is absorbed by them.

In fact our cognitive ability and understanding of nature obliges us to maintain the integrity of the environment. So we must change how we influence the land,we much respect the natural order of things and find a way to live accordingly. It is critical to protect the environment so as to reduce the destruction of ecosystems caused by a myriad of anthropogenic activities. It is more of a moral obligation for humans to protect the environment from pollution and other activities that lead to environmental degradation.

When a mother cleans the house,it’s the responsibility of every member of the family to maintain the cleanliness to keep things at their fixed place, using things economically, using electricity and other resources wisely.

Like a mother will clean, decorate, cook, spray beautiful home fresheners or incense sticks, similarly our mother earth gives us a clean beautiful, perfumed by nature and nourishing house to live for humans and all the living beings.

Now that we have understood that it’s our responsibility, let’s first understand how we humans are being cruel to our earth by our selfish actions, Mahatma Gandhi said, “earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s needs, but not every man’s greed.”

Everyday we produce tons of degradable and non-degradable wastes and throw them anywhere recklessly, Smoke and harmful gases from our homes, vehicles industries are suffocating her.we are disposing dirty sewage, drainage and even chemicals recklessly, although more than 7 billion humans along with all plants and animals in this world rely on water for their lives. Noise pollution, air pollution, water pollution deforestation, global warming etc caused by human activities have made them loose all the pleasures given to them by the mother earth.

If a society is set on continuing to live their unsustainable life in both a greedy and gluttonous way, then the resources are doomed to disappear. Other effects include an increase in greenhouse gas emissions, disruption of water cycles anincrease of soil erosion, disruption of livelihoods climate change and greenhouse effect.

The government may have the ultimate responsibility but this does not mean that we can do whatever we want. The future is in our own hands, so every one should make an effort to protect the environment.

All this environmental damage is basically caused due to man’s vices such as greed, anger, ego attachment etc.it is every man’s responsibility to use the resources, the gift from God with respect, wisdom and integrity.

To change the root cause that is our thoughts and the thoughts will change our reality. Being in the state of peace love and radiating peace, love and harmony in the environment by incorporating them into our lives. To understand the importance and being grateful to the earth every single day. By educating ourselves and others as to how can we bring a change to make our mother earth heal. To bring a change, we first need to be the change. Here are some of the many ways by which we can make efforts for our environment. •Spiritual empowerment for kindness and compassion. A kind and compassionate peaceful and loving being will never harm and misuse any of the fellow beings, other living things and resources on the planet.

•plantation of more and more trees.
•cleanliness of our surroundings.
•conservation of water and water bodies.
•reduce, reuse, recycle.
•composting.
•Educating one another for the value of our natural resources.
•saying no to plastic.
•setting up solar power plants (spp)
•setting up sewage treatment plants (stp)
•reducing our use of oil and embracing green energy
•save electricity
•go vegetarian
•shop wisely
•walk,bike or carpool
•support green businesses and much more more….

As Shakespeare has wisely written, ‘All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players’, so it’s the earth that is the stage where we actors perform our act. Humans have the special intellect and that is why it is our responsibility to protect our earth.
