Women of Faith Unite for Climate Action at Global Gathering in Wilton Park

From 2–4 March 2026, women of faith from around the world gathered for an important dialogue titled Women, Faith & Climate Network – Scaling Radical Collaboration, held at Wilton Park, Wiston House, Steyning, West Sussex, United Kingdom. The meeting brought together participants from Christian, Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist and Jewish traditions, united by a shared commitment to sustainable living and environmental action.

The gathering created a meaningful platform for women leaders and faith representatives to explore how faith communities can help address the global climate and nature crisis. The event also reflected the spirit of International Women’s Day, highlighting the vital role of women of faith in leading efforts for climate justice and environmental responsibility.

The dialogue was inspired by Mary Robinson, who reminded participants

that the world is living in a time when hearts are stretched to cope with many global challenges. She emphasized that climate justice must continue even during times of conflict, and that compassion and faith should remain strong. She highlighted three commitments for leadership: practising broken-heartedness together, practising healing together, and working with solidarity that matches the depth of the crisis.

Participants reflected on the courage of Queen Esther, remembered during the festival of Purim, with the inspiring message that each individual may have been born for this very moment to contribute towards positive change.

During the gathering, the sacred seasons of Lent, Ramadan, Purim and Holi were also honoured, symbolizing unity, mutual respect and harmony among different faith traditions.

Among the participants, Sister Maureen Goodman represented the Brahma Kumaris and shared valuable insights during the discussions

on faith-inspired climate action and sustainable living. Her contribution highlighted the importance of spiritual awareness and values in caring for the environment.

A powerful example of collaboration was presented through the partnership between the Brahma Kumaris and the Self Employed Women’s Association (SEWA). This initiative combines solar energy with community empowerment. Through the Kamla Kitchen initiative, solar cooking is supporting 3,500 rural women and providing nutritious food to nearly 250,000 people each year. In addition, the Raj Rishi Village project promotes household solarisation, strengthening sustainable livelihoods, education, health and women’s empowerment.

The gathering demonstrated that when women of faith come together across traditions and organisations, their collaboration can inspire communities and strengthen global efforts towards climate action and environmental protection
